Northern Research Institute Narvik A.S. (NORUT Narvik) is a technological research institute, based in Narvik, Norway, and owned 26 % by UiT, 24 % by Forte Narvik and 50% by Norut Northern Research Institute AS based in Tromsø. With 30 employees NORUT Narvik aims to explore new solutions from a multi-disciplinary approach to help businesses operate and grow sustainably in the north. The turnover in 2016 was 24 MNOK. The main research areas are Cold Climate Technology, Infrastructure and Materials and Process and Environmental Technology. Ross Wakelin is Research Manager for Process and Environmental Technology at NORUT Narvik and has a PhD in Chemical & Process Engineering. After 15 years working in the pulp & paper industry with separation technologies and quality characterization the research interests have become broadened at NORUT: Process integration and optimisation, multiphysics simulation, environmental technology and process feasibility studies

Terje Nordvåg is Managing Director of NORUT Narvik and has a Masters degree in Applied Physics. He has worked in large E&P projects in the oil & gas industry (Kværner) for 16 years until joining NORUT Narvik in 2004.

Dagfinn Johnsen is Administration Manager at NORUT Narvik and previously worked within business management at LKAB and Siemens. At NORUT he has been involved in developing business plans and economic models for new industrial production concepts.
